Job Description - SEN Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant - Reception - Tower Hamlets (Near Whitechapel Station)

Location: Tower Hamlets - Short walk from Whitechapel Station
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Term-time
Salary: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets, near Whitechapel Station, is looking for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team in Reception. You will be providing dedicated one-to-one support to a young child with complex learning and communication needs.

SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 classroom support for a Reception pupil with complex needs

  • Implement strategies in line with the child's EHCP

  • Use visual supports, sensory tools, and structured activities to engage learning

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and therapists

  • Track progress and contribute to regular review meetings

What we're looking for:
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in EYFS

  • Understanding of complex learning needs, including communication and sensory difficulties

  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
