SEN Teaching Assistant

• Annual Salary: £27,269 Pro Rata

We are seeking a highly experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Accrington. This role involves supporting a Year 3 child with hearing impairments and limited sign language skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach sign language and provide dedicated support to enhance the child's learning experience. This position offers a potential permanent role, with the opportunity to continue until the child completes Year 6.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Provide one-to-one support to a Year 3 child with significant hearing impairments.
• Facilitate communication using sign language and other effective communication methods.
• Support the child's educational and social development while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement educational plans tailored to the child's needs.
• Monitor and report on the child's progress in various activities and through educational milestones.
• Engage the child in learning activities that are both educational and enjoyable.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, specifically with children with hearing impairments.
• Proficiency in sign language BSL level 2+
• Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to the educational development and well-being of children.
