SEN Tutor Must transport young people

Prospero Teaching is seeking a supportive, positive, and encouraging Tutor to work with a young person transitioning into Year 8, who has an EHCP and a diagnosis of ASD and Anxiety. This student finds the traditional classroom environment overwhelming and has experienced significant gaps in their education. The successful Tutor will deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions and provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.

• Enjoys card games, especially Uno, and has a strong interest in Maths and numbers.
• Has a fantastic imagination but finds writing challenging.
• May appear shy at first, but once comfortable, is chatty with a great sense of humour

• Experience working with children with ASD and Anxiety.
• A nurturing and patient approach to learning.
• A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to create a safe, structured, and fun learning environment.

As a n SEN Tutor you will:

• Deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions tailored to the student's interests and needs.
• Provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
• Build a trusting relationship with the student, encouraging confidence and creativity

About you:

• Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
• Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement them
• Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
• Ability to support learning through engaging, interest-led activities

Full time/part-time - Part Time
Hours - 12 hours per week

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

• • • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
    • • Background in SEN education or therapeutic support
      • Experience supporting children in community or outdoor settings

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

• Hold right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide references upon request
• Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
