SEND Passenger Assistant

Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you calm, caring, and reliable? We are looking a Passenger Assistant and play a vital role in supporting children with special educational needs and vulnerable adults to get to school or day care safely.

This is more than just a transport role - it's about being a trusted companion and making someone's daily journey safe, comfortable, and full of dignity.

• Assisting children and vulnerable adults on their journey to and from school or day centres.

• Supporting individuals with personal, physical, and medical needs.

• Helping drivers operate ramps, lifts, and seatbelts - ensuring every journey is safe.

• Acting quickly and confidently in emergencies, including administering first aid or emergency medication (full training provided).

• Liaising with families, schools, drivers, and care teams to ensure the best possible service.

• Monitoring transport contracts, reporting issues, and supporting service quality.

• Helping clients safely access vehicles and ensuring their homes are secure after pickup.

• Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive medical or personal information respectfully.

We're looking for compassionate, proactive individuals with experience supporting children or adults - whether professionally or personally.

Essential qualities and experience:

• Previous experience caring for or supporting others.

• Comfortable working with individuals who may have mobility issues or display challenging behaviour.

• Willingness to undertake medical screening and essential training (including First Aid).

• Flexible approach to hours, locations, and travel (routes may vary across Kirklees).

• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Commitment to safeguarding and respecting privacy and dignity.

• You may need to travel to different pickup points

• This role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to new routes on short notice.

• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
