Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded organisation in Liverpool, who are currently looking to appoint a Senior Assistant Accountant on a 15-month fixed-term contract.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a collaborative and knowledgeable team, where you'll play a key role in financial reporting, strategic support to stakeholders, and driving best practice in controls and compliance.
About the RoleWorking closely with the Finance Manager and three colleagues in the Financial Accounting team, this role will suit someone who enjoys a broad and hands-on remit, including:
Leading the preparation and review of period-end management accounts
Handling complex accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
Producing monthly budget variance analysis and engaging with budget holders
Providing financial support and insight to stakeholders and project teams
Leading quarterly spend reviews and responding to ad hoc financial queries
Overseeing VAT return preparation and cash flow forecasting
Maintaining balance sheet controls and preparing reconciliations
Supporting interest on capital schedules, budgeting, and re forecasting
Assisting with annual audits and ensuring timely, accurate documentation
Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive team environment
Ensuring ongoing compliance with internal financial controls and external standards
Offering cover for colleagues within the finance team when needed
This role requires a confident and capable individual with a track record in accounting and financial reporting, ideally from a professional services or similarly structured environment. You will bring:
Strong experience in a similar finance role
Excellent understanding of financial regulations, controls, and compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems
Solid analytically and organisational skills
Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain financial matters to non-finance colleagues
A proactive, adaptable approach and a commitment to team success
Actively studying or qualified with a recognised body (AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
