Locum Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer – London Local Authority – Remote working considered – Once weekly office attendance – £55+ umbrella per hour

Venn Group is working with a proactive and well-regarded London Borough Council in their search for a Contracts Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 3-month contract.

Job Title: Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer
Hourly Rate: From £55 per hour umbrella (negotiable depending on experience)
Length of Contract: 3 months initially with strong potential for extension
Working Pattern: Full-time
Location: Local Authority in London
Office Attendance: One day per week required – remote working considered

Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join the Legal Services Team and be responsible for a varied contracts caseload. Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of contracts including service agreements, collaboration agreements, and procurement contracts
• Advising on public procurement and subsidy control
• Supporting departments across the council on contract-related matters
• Mitigating legal risk and ensuring contractual compliance with relevant legislation
• Working closely with stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of services
• Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to strategic planning within the team

Preferred experience:

• Extensive experience in local government contracts law
• Strong knowledge of public procurement regulations and commercial contracts
• Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
• Experience advising public bodies or similar organisations
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX
