Locum Senior Contracts Lawyer – London Local Authority – Remote working considered – Once weekly office attendance – £45–£60+ per hour umbrella

Venn Group is working with a highly regarded and collaborative London Local Authority in their search for a Senior Contracts Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 3-month contract with strong potential for continuation.

Details:
Job Title: Locum Senior Contracts Lawyer
Hourly Rate: £55–£60 umbrella per hour (higher rates negotiable depending on experience)
Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with strong likelihood of extension
Working Pattern: Full-time – 36 hours per week
Location: London Local Authority
Office Attendance: One day per week required – remote working considered

Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will play a senior role within the Contracts and Procurement legal team, providing high-level legal support on complex matters. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on a broad range of commercial and construction contracts
• Providing expert legal advice on major capital projects and JCT/NEC contracts
• Advising on public procurement and commercial risk
• Supporting senior stakeholders across council departments
• Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to strategic planning within the team

Preferred experience:

• Strong experience in local authority commercial and construction contract work
• In-depth knowledge of public procurement and contract law
• Demonstrable experience with JCT and NEC contracts
• Comfortable working independently on complex matters
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX
