Are you passionate about ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive through education? Do you have the skills to tackle barriers to school attendance and inclusion, and make a tangible difference in the lives of young people and their families?

We're looking for a committed and proactive Education Inclusion Officer to join the Family Early Help Service-a specialist team working at the heart of our community to deliver on the Council's Fairer Future promises.

What You'll Be Doing
As an Education Inclusion Officer, you'll be the driving force behind ensuring all children of compulsory school age access full-time education and are supported to remain engaged in learning. You will:

  • Promote positive behaviour, educational achievement, and constructive activities to keep children in school

  • Lead and support managed moves, multi-agency plans, and early interventions to avoid exclusions

  • Carry out attendance investigations and provide expert consultation to schools and professionals

  • Enforce parental responsibility measures when necessary, including legal planning meetings, interviews under caution, and presenting cases at magistrates and family court

  • Actively contribute to tracking and re-engaging Children Missing Education (CME) to ensure every child is back in learning quickly

  • Provide strategic oversight and consultation to colleagues across Family Early Help, ensuring that thresholds for legal intervention are correctly identified and actioned

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:

  • Has strong knowledge of education law and school attendance policies
  • Can build effective relationships with children, families, schools, and partner agencies
  • Thrives in a multi-agency environment using a Team Around the Family approach
  • Has experience working with families at risk of exclusion or persistent non-attendance
  • Can balance a supportive approach with confident decision-making around legal processes
  • Is committed to equality, inclusion, and delivering fair outcomes for diverse communities
