Role Purpose: To deliver high-quality, cost-effective engineering design solutions across water and sewage treatment projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, health & safety standards, and project requirements. The role also involves coordinating multidisciplinary design activities to support successful project delivery. Job Role Responsibilities: Produce cost-effective design layouts considering full lifecycle costs (design, materials, construction, commissioning) Deliver and coordinate engineering design documentation and drawings Ensure use of standard practices to maintain efficiency and competitiveness Provide technical input and estimates to the Proposals team Develop, maintain, and improve departmental procedures and processes Coordinate designs across internal and external disciplines Maintain accurate project documentation and records Support and drive customer satisfaction Assist in the supervision and development of junior engineers Promote and ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance in all designs Contribute to reducing waste and improving efficiency across design activities Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment processes Experience managing or mentoring engineers within a design environment Degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline (with significant experience) Professionally qualified (Chartered or working towards) Ability to produce efficient and economical design solutions Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and process engineering Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to present technical information clearly and confidently Good IT skills Full UK driving licence Desirable: Chartered Engineer status Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline Company information At First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
