Senior Environmental Health Officer

Location: Welwyn | Hybrid (minimum 2 days in the office per week)
Contract: 12 weeks | Start Date: ASAP (ideally by end of the month)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our Private Sector Housing team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Head of Housing, managing complex complaints, overseeing housing grants, and guiding a small team of technicians and admin staff.

• Investigate and resolve private sector housing complaints
• Apply HHSRS assessments and ensure housing conditions meet legal standards
• Oversee the delivery of housing grants and improvement schemes
• Provide leadership and technical support to a small team
• Liaise with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies

• HHSRS Certification (2-day training in an environmental health context)
• In-depth knowledge of private sector housing legislation and housing grants
• Proven experience in environmental health and team leadership
• A full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
