Senior Finance Manager

• Hourly Rate: £30.20
• Location: Cowley Marsh Depot, Hybrid (max 2 days per week WFH)
• Job Type: Temp (Approx. 12 months maternity cover)
• Working Hours: 37 hours per week

We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join our team on a temporary basis for approximately 12 months to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance, this role is crucial in providing high-level financial reporting and management across multiple business streams within the City Council.

• Build and maintain effective relationships across various business units and finance teams, ensuring robust financial practices and systems of internal control.
• Support the Head of Corporate Finance in preparing accurate and timely management accounts, including insightful trend analyses and performance reporting at a consolidated corporate level.
• Assist in supporting cross-service tender opportunities and provide reliable performance data related to progress against the business plan for the trading company.
• Liaise with trading company tax advisors and ensure all overheads are apportioned correctly according to agreed principles.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a consistent framework of corporate internal controls to enable clear, auditable reconciliation of the corporate accounting system (Agresso) to accurately reflect the trading company’s recharged activities.
• Ensure service delivery meets and exceeds minimum requirements, achieves value for money, and reflects best practice in contemporary financial management.
• Manage the trading company’s budgeting and financial forecasting processes, advising cost centre managers of financial constraints to ensure alignment with the long-term business plan.

• Proven experience in financial management within a large, multi-business stream organisation, preferably within a local government context.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles.
• Experience in managing complex financial systems and producing consolidated financial reports.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to interact effectively across various levels of the organisation.
• Proficiency in using corporate accounting systems, preferably Agresso.
• Ability to manage budgets and forecast financial outcomes effectively.
