Senior Food & Safety Officer

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Food & Safety Officer to join an authority in the West Midlands on an interim basis. This is an 8-month initial contract with the potential to extend, offering a competitive rate of £47.39 per hour.

• Contract: 8 months (initial, with possible extension)

• Pay Rate: £47.39 per hour

• Working Model: Hybrid – own vehicle required for site visits

As Senior Food & Safety Officer, you’ll provide expert regulatory services across the borough, including:

• Advising on Food Hygiene, Food Standards, and Health & Safety matters.

• Conducting inspections, interventions, and investigations to ensure legal compliance.

• Leading on complex cases and supporting colleagues with technical guidance and best practice.

We’re seeking a highly skilled professional with:

• Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health, OR

  • Higher Certificate/Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Control or Food Hygiene and Standards Control (or equivalent).

• Registration: Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

• Experience:

  • Strong background in inspections, enforcement, and regulatory advice.

  • Current competency in Food Safety as per the Food Law Code of Practice.

• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
