Job Description - Senior Surveyor

Senior Surveyor
  • Location: Wigan
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: £35-£40 per hour umbrella
  • Hours: 37 hours per week

We are seeking a Senior Surveyor to contribute significantly to the Council's vision of 'Confident Place – Confident People' by delivering effective asset management planning, estates management, and valuation functions. This role is pivotal in leading various responsibilities within the Property Division, ensuring the strategic and operational enhancement of council assets.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Asset Management: Lead the production and implementation of functions within the Corporate Asset Management Plan, focusing on both operational and non-operational assets.
  • Strategic Leadership: Manage and implement strategic proposals to enhance the effectiveness of the property portfolio.
  • Collaboration: Work with partner organisations to explore collaborative property opportunities that benefit the portfolio.
  • Reporting and Representation: Prepare and present reports, representing the service at meetings to ensure stakeholder engagement and effective communication of strategies.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage staff, contractors, and systems to develop a comprehensive estates management service for the Council.
  • Operational Tasks: Oversee the disposal of surplus land and premises, asset valuations, and the acquisition of land for council schemes, ensuring maximisation of revenue from property transactions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Professional Qualification: MRICS or equivalent in Estate/Asset Management or Valuation.
  • Experience: Proven experience at team leader/middle management level in a similar role, preferably within a public sector environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of estate management procedures, asset valuation, and Landlords and Tenant legislation.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to present complex information effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, managing both people and resources effectively.
