Site Manager

Are you an experienced and highly motivated Site Manager with a proven track record in high-voltage cable installation projects? We are seeking a dedicated Freelance Site Manager to oversee critical 132kV cable installation works on HS2.

This is an exceptional opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of the UK's most significant engineering endeavours. We are looking for a professional who can ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all on-site activities.

The Role:

As a Freelance Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of 132kV cable installation activities across designated HS2 work packages. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing and managing all site operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Implementing and enforcing robust health and safety procedures, conducting regular site inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Managing and coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and plant, ensuring optimal resource allocation and productivity.
• Monitoring project progress against programme, identifying and mitigating potential delays, and reporting on performance.
• Ensuring quality control standards are met throughout the installation process.
• Liaising effectively with clients, stakeholders, and other contractors.
• Managing site logistics, materials, and equipment.
• Maintaining comprehensive site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and incident logs.

About You:

• Essential: Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
• Essential: BESC (Basic Electrical Safety Competence) qualification.
• Proven experience as a Site Manager on major infrastructure projects, with significant demonstrable experience in 132kV or higher voltage cable installation.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering practices related to cable trenching, ducting, and backfill.
• Familiarity with HS2 project procedures, standards, and safety protocols is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and make critical decisions under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• A commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
