Job Description:

A well-regarded secondary school in Tower Hamlets, East London is seeking a Social Sciences Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025 on a full-time, term-time only basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of engaging lessons across the Social Sciences department (e.g. Sociology, Psychology, Politics)

Assist individual students and small groups to enhance learning outcomes

Provide in-class and pastoral support under the direction of the class teacher

Help prepare learning materials and maintain a positive classroom environment

Support behaviour management and encourage student participation

Contribute to extracurricular activities and school events where required

Requirements:

A degree in a Social Sciences-related subject (e.g. Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Politics)

Experience working with young people in a paid or voluntary capacity (e.g. youth work, tutoring, classroom support)

A genuine interest in pursuing a career in secondary teaching

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Positive, proactive and professional attitude

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
