Solicitor

2-3 month contract position with a local authority

• Provide expert legal advice on planning law, including development control, enforcement, and planning policy.
  


• Draft, negotiate, and review complex legal agreements, particularly those related to minerals and waste developments.
  


• Advise on highway law and related legal issues.
  


• Represent the Council in planning inquiries, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  


• Collaborate with planning officers, developers, and external stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practice in England and Wales.
  


• Strong academic background in law, with a focus on planning or environmental law preferred.
  


• Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant legal areas.
  

• Significant post-qualification experience in planning law, ideally within a local government or public sector setting.
  


• Specialist knowledge and experience of local authority county planning matters.
  


• Proven track record of handling complex planning agreements and legal matters.
  


• Experience advising on highway law is desirable.
  

• Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  


• Flexible working pattern available.
