Job Description - Special Needs Assistant

Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism Support (Primary School, Ealing)
Location: Ealing, West London
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £95 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only (Full academic year)
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:15am-4:15pm; Friday, 8:15am-3:00pm

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant seeking a full-time, long-term role supporting a child with Autism in a mainstream primary school?
SANZA Teaching Agency is working with a modern primary school in Ealing to recruit a confident and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) starting in September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong SEN experience, particularly with non-verbal children and those who display challenging or high-energy behaviour. The ideal candidate will bring a consistent, proactive, and nurturing approach to help the pupil thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 classroom and break-time support for a non-verbal KS1 pupil with Autism

  • Use visual schedules, structured routines, and sensory regulation strategies

  • De-escalate behaviours calmly and implement effective support techniques

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists

  • Monitor progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning experience

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Proven experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting pupils with ASD

  • Skilled in behaviour management, emotional regulation, and sensory-based interventions

  • Calm, consistent, and resilient when facing challenging behaviour

  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Committed to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing

  • Confident following support plans and adapting to individual needs
