Job Description - Special Needs Teacher

Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher ready to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs? Are you seeking a rewarding teaching role within a specialist secondary setting that values inclusive, nurturing education?

Location: Harrow, North-West London
Pay: £180 - £265 per day, depending on experience (PAYE)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a highly regarded Secondary SEN School in Harrow to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their experienced team in September. The school supports pupils aged 11-18 with a range of needs including Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver a tailored curriculum to small groups of secondary-aged pupils with diverse needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated lessons, managing behaviour positively, and working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop both academically and socially within a safe and structured environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) - essential

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly at secondary level

  • The ability to differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs

  • A calm, reflective, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team

  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education
