About the Role:

Cadent Gas is seeking a dynamic and experienced Stakeholder Communications & Engagement Specialist to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective communication and engagement with their stakeholders, including local authorities, businesses, and communities. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring engagement strategies to enhance the customer experience and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all team activities are effectively planned and executed, optimizing resources and timely delivery to both internal and external customers.
  • Combine key knowledge with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Deliver and take ownership of specialist services within agreed processes, procedures, timescales, and expectations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through proactive, consistent, and influential behaviors.
  • Investigate, analyze, and contextualize complex issues, developing practical and simple plans to resolve problems.
  • Actively demonstrate and promote Cadent's values, contributing to a customer-oriented approach.
  • Use expertise to help direct strategy based on detailed analysis.
  • Drive and deliver excellent customer service in line with expectations, operating with a sense of purpose.
  • Understand and promote diversity and inclusion, creating an inclusive environment.
Functional Accountabilities:
  • Act as the gatekeeper to customer happiness, driving an ambitious agenda to develop a strong customer-focused culture.
  • Deliver on their Customer Plan and KPIs to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Build strong relationships across all customer touchpoints, ensuring all areas of the business delight their customers.
  • Maximize opportunities to apply process improvement and best practice methodologies to improve efficiency.
  • Design and monitor metrics to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and build excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Specialist Accountabilities:
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across the network.
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, businesses, and communities.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies for impacted groups, ensuring stakeholders are fully informed before major works commence.
  • Support the creation of robust engagement strategies and processes to drive performance excellence.
  • Represent the business at public events and consultations, ensuring professional and consistent messaging.
  • Analyze customer insights to understand expectations and gaps in business performance.
  • Manage third-party market research contracts to gather ongoing stakeholder insights.
  • Promote and drive continual improvement throughout the business, identifying and implementing innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Valid UK Driving License (essential).
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (desirable).
  • Professional certification in stakeholder engagement or public relations (e.g., CIPR, IAP2) (desirable).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools.
  • Awareness of regulatory and legislative requirements for stakeholder communications within the utilities or energy sectors (desirable).
Practical Experience:
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, public relations, or communications roles, ideally within the utilities, infrastructure, or public sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and monitor stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and present data insights.
  • Experience representing an organization at public events and consultations.
  • Familiarity with customer satisfaction metrics and methods for collecting and analyzing feedback.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with innovative solutions for stakeholder challenges.
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusion principles.
