About this role:

Working within a fast‑paced stores environment alongside three other Stores Assistants, the primary purpose of this role is to lead accurate and timely booking‑in activities. This includes receiving palletised and boxed deliveries, carrying out thorough quality checks on all incoming goods, and ensuring stock is correctly recorded and allocated to the appropriate storage locations.
In addition to goods‑in responsibility, the role also supports the wider stores function through the timely kitting, picking, packing, and despatch of customer orders, helping to maintain an efficient flow of materials throughout the warehouse.

The role requires someone with strong attention to detail, a hands‑on approach, and the ability to work efficiently within established processes.

The role is based in Guildford, UK and reports to the Lean Project Lead. 

Key Skills

Technical

• Ability to receive, quality‑check, and process 5-20 goods‑in deliveries per day, including palletised goods and small boxed items.


• Skilled in picking and packing small, medium, and large system orders in line with pick lists and shipping requirements.


• Able to locate stock correctly within racking and maintain organised storage areas.


• Competent in supporting daily cycle counts and maintaining stock accuracy under Stores leadership.


• Comfortable working in a manual warehouse environment, including lifting, moving, and handling stock.


• Good level of numeracy and literacy to support stock accuracy, record‑keeping, and documentation.

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience working in a manual warehouse or stores environment.


• Experience in picking and packing within a distribution or warehouse setting.


• Experience handling goods in/goods out processes.


• Good standard of spoken/written English and solid numerical skills.


• Demonstrable attention to detail in stock handling or similar tasks.

Experience

Preferred

• Forklift licence/training (desirable but not essential).


• Experience receiving palletised goods and booking stock into racking.


• Prior experience supporting cycle counts or stock audits.


• Full UK Driving Licence.


• GCSE‑level education or equivalent.


• Strong process mindset and familiarity with working within structured SOPs.


• Experience in a store’s environment within manufacturing, engineering, or distribution (preferred but not essential).


• Willingness to undergo training and develop further skills within the warehouse function.
