Street Scene Operative Driver

These roles will operate Monday to Friday, with working hours as follows: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 to 14:00, and Friday, 06:00 to 13:30.

To support the Council’s environmental maintenance by clearing fly tipping, flyposting, dead animals, and responding to other cleansing requests. This includes driving and operating street cleansing vehicles and ensuring high standards of cleanliness across the Borough as directed by the Street Scene Supervisor.

• Respond promptly to public reports using mobile technology.

• Clear fly tipping, flyposting, dead animals, and other reported issues.

• Proactively identify and report fly tipping, flyposting, graffiti, and dead animals while on duty.

• Work weekend shifts on a rota basis, focusing on town centre cleansing and fly tip removal.

• Record and report cleansing standards before and after work completion.

• Assist the Environmental Enforcement Team by gathering evidence and sharing intelligence.

• Report any accidents, near-misses, or hazards encountered during work.

• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and dynamic risk assessments of tasks.

• Report vehicle defects and maintain vehicle defect logs.

• Maintain accurate driver logbooks (working hours).

• Provide cover for other drivers, including mobile and inspection teams, as needed.

• Support the Council’s Strategic Plan through dedicated and responsible work.

• Participate in training and continuous professional development.

• Comply with all Council policies, including:

  • IT Security Policy

• Perform other reasonable duties within the grade of the post
