Job Description - Stress Engineer

Stress Engineer - Rate to be discussed, 1 year FTC, on-site working. Location, Derby or Bristol.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed stress and fatigue calculations on nacelle and structural components.
  • Support critical part lifting activities for components used in PW and GE systems.
  • Collaborate with materials and design teams to help define and validate new materials with fatigue considerations.
  • Interpret and apply FEM results and hand calculations to assess structural integrity.
  • Document analysis results and provide technical recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on stress-related design improvements.
  • Transfer and adapt existing skillsets to new applications and environments.

Required experience:

  • Proven experience in stress analysis within automotive, motorsport (F1), or aerospace sectors.
  • Strong understanding of fatigue life prediction and material behaviour under cyclic loading.
  • Familiarity with nacelle systems and non-turbo-machinery components.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
  • Ability to perform hand calculations and validate FEA results.
  • Experience with critical part lifting methodologies.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Available for the full 1-year FTC
