Suitability Reviews Officer

Are you passionate about housing solutions and supporting vulnerable residents? Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Suitability Review Officer to join their Housing Needs and Assessments team. This is a vital role in helping residents access safe, suitable housing and preventing homelessness across the borough.

• Temporary Role - due to end April 2026
• Full Time - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 36 hours per week
• IT equipment provided

This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person attendance required for team meetings or training. All IT equipment will be provided and must be collected from the council office on your first day.

• Assess housing applications and determine eligibility and priority under the Housing Allocation Scheme.
• Make decisions on the suitability of accommodation offers under Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996.
• Provide high-quality advice and support to residents facing housing difficulties.
• Lead statutory reviews and liaise with legal representatives and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate case records and issue legally compliant decision letters.
• Contribute to service development and lead small-scale projects.

• In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, and Localism Act 2011.
• Strong investigative and analytical skills to assess complex housing cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in legal correspondence.
• Experience working in housing needs, homelessness, or a complaints-based environment.
• Ability to manage sensitive cases with empathy and professionalism.
