Job Description - Teacher

Make a Lasting Impact Where It Counts Most
Are you a Primary Teacher who believes every child deserves a chance to thrive?
Do you have the adaptability, empathy, and passion to support children who’ve faced challenges in traditional educational settings?

Smart Education is proud to be recruiting a dedicated and nurturing Primary Teacher for a caring and progressive alternative provision based in Middlesbrough. This rewarding role involves working with pupils aged 5–11 who experience a range of additional needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD).

As a teacher in this specialist environment, you won’t just be delivering lessons—you’ll be shaping experiences that foster growth, confidence, and resilience. You’ll be a trusted adult, a positive role model, and a consistent support for pupils who need that little bit more.

If you're looking for a meaningful teaching role where your impact goes far beyond the curriculum, this is the opportunity for you. Join a team that prioritises compassion, creativity, and collaboration in every classroom.

Your Role Will Include:
• Teaching across the primary curriculum, adapting lessons to individual needs
• Fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Planning engaging, differentiated activities to inspire curiosity and achievement
• Working closely with SENCOs, Teaching Assistants, and wider staff to support each learner holistically
• Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

What We’re Looking For:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience working with children with additional needs, preferably in SEN, PRU, or alternative provision settings
• A creative, patient, and flexible teaching approach
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
• A passion for inclusive education and empowering every child

What You’ll Get in Return:
• Competitive weekly pay
• Access to free CPD and training opportunities
• Holiday pay entitlement
• Specialist support from a consultant who understands SEN education
• On-site parking and accessible public transport

About Smart Education:
Smart Education is a specialist recruitment agency committed to connecting exceptional educators with meaningful teaching opportunities. As we expand our network across Middlesbrough, we continue to uphold our values of integrity, care, and commitment in every placement we make.

Ready to Make a Real Difference as a Primary Teacher?
Apply today and bring your expertise, warmth, and passion into a school that truly values its teachers and pupils. Be the steady hand, the enthusiastic guide, and the everyday inspiration a child needs.

Benefits:
• On-site parking
• Referral programme
• Accessible transport links

Schedule:
• Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
