Teaching Assistant - 1:1 in reception class

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a reception class child who is on the autism spectrum. This role is set to start in September and will likely continue for the duration of the academic year. The position is based in Chorley and offers a supportive working environment.

• Provide tailored one-to-one support to a child in reception class, focusing on educational and social development.
• Implement learning activities that cater to the child’s needs and abilities.
• Assist the child with classroom activities and ensure they are engaged and making progress.
• Work closely with the classroom teacher to monitor the child’s progress and adapt strategies as needed.
• Help manage behaviour and use techniques that encourage positive interactions.
• Ensure the child’s well-being throughout the school day.

• Experience working with children, particularly those on the autism spectrum, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of the needs and behaviours associated with autism.
• Ability to build rapport with young children and engage them effectively.
• Patience, compassion, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff.
• Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are advantageous.
