Job Description - Teaching Assistant - SEN

Teaching Assistant for Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Didsbury


Role Overview:
On behalf of our client, a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) primary school in Didsbury, we are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential. They cater to a diverse range of SEN conditions and are dedicated to delivering personalised support to each of their students. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with children with various SEN conditions. This role involves supporting the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the well-being of the students.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help with classroom management and organisation.
  • Support students with their personal care needs, if required.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Monitor and record students' progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.

Requirements:

  • Teach First trained or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working with children with a range of SEN conditions.
  • Strong understanding of SEN best practices and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
