What Does a Graduate Teaching Assistant Do?

Graduate Teaching Assistants in secondary schools, you will play a vital role in supporting both students and teachers by:

• Working with individuals or small groups, helping them to understand lessons, complete tasks, and stay engaged
• Supporting students with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), or those requiring academic or emotional support
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging student participation in class activities
• Helping prepare learning resources, setting up classroom materials, supporting with displays, and tracking student progress
• Providing classroom support, ensuring that the learning environment remains safe, inclusive, and focused
• Assisting teachers in managing time and ensuring all students receive the help they need to succeed

Requirements:

• A degree in any subject (minimum requirement)
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Check (if applicable), and valid references
• A CV covering the last 10 years of employment/education (if applicable)
• The legal right to work in the UK
