Technical Architect - Corsham (Remote, occasional travel) - £590 per day Outside IR35 - 5 month contract

FryerMiles are delighted to be assisting a brilliant Consultancy in their recruitment of a Technical Architect to support critical defence sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile programmes, leveraging your technical expertise to design and deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.

You will be a vital part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, interfacing with key stakeholders across the defence community. This contract is offered Outside IR35, paying up to £590 per day, and requires an active Security Clearance (SC) as a minimum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of technical architecture solutions for defence projects.
• Produce high-quality architecture documentation (HLDs, LLDs, etc.) aligned with MOD standards.
• Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Provide technical leadership across the solution lifecycle, from initial concept through to delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with security, regulatory, and governance requirements.
• Support technical risk management and issue resolution activities.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to defence challenges.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Proven experience as a Technical Architect within defence, security, or similarly regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of secure architecture design principles.
• Experience designing solutions in complex, multi-vendor environments.
• Expertise across a range of technologies including cloud (AWS/Azure), networking, cybersecurity, data architecture, and systems integration.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to produce technical documentation to a high professional standard.
• Current SC Clearance (or higher). Candidates without clearance cannot be considered.
• Knowledge of MOD architectural frameworks (e.g., MODAF) or defence-specific IT systems.
