Technical Lead – Contract

?? Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid in office part of week)
?? 37 hours per week | ?? Start ASAP – 12-month contract
?? £500 per day | Outside IR35
?? Basic Disclosure required (£25)

Our client is seeking a skilled Technical Lead to support and enhance digital services across key sectors. You'll guide a cross-functional team, lead on new feature development and refactoring, and ensure the maintainability and resilience of digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead feature development and backend refactoring using AWS and serverless tech
Design/document public APIs and ensure high-quality support for digital registers
Collaborate on product/technical roadmaps and backlog prioritisation
Promote and uphold best practices in architecture and engineering
Guide Agile delivery, continuous improvement, and system resilience
Mentor team members and support disaster recovery planning

Essential Skills & Experience:

Strong AWS expertise (CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Aurora/Postgres)
TypeScript, React, modern JS frameworks, HTML/CSS, accessibility
Experience leading high-performing development teams
Working knowledge of XP practices, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
Skilled in testing (e.g. Cypress), monitoring (Grafana), and IaC
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Some out-of-hours work may be required to support service continuity.
