Test Manager - PAYG Mobile Ticketing Trial (Contract) - £350/day - Outside IR35 - Central London (Hybrid)

We're supporting a leading transport organisation in delivering a high-impact mobile ticketing trial across the UK rail network. As part of this initiative, we're looking for a hands-on Test Manager to lead the end-to-end testing and quality assurance effort.

?? Contract: 6 months (initial)
?? Rate: £350/day (Outside IR35)

• Own and manage the field testing programme across routes, devices, and user behaviours
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define and execute test cycles (pre-release, regression, rollout validation)
• Continuously improve test plans, tooling, and workflows
• Coordinate a distributed team of ~6 part-time testers, scaling as needed
• Triage and escalate issues, managing the defect lifecycle through to resolution
• Communicate progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders
• Champion a quality-first mindset and advocate for the end-user experience

• Proven experience as a QA/Test Manager, ideally with mobile app testing in live environments
• Strong grasp of testing methodologies and tools (ISTQB or similar certification a plus)
• Ability to balance hands-on testing with coordination and reporting
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Calm under pressure with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
• Experience with location-based services, transport, or mobility products is a bonus
