The team will be performing test and commissioning on various fleets of rolling stock vehicles. Job Title – Test Technician. General Description: Skilled work within a safety critical role which demands a standard of competence necessitating either an apprenticeship to a trade or recognised training programme where an employee is required to be fully qualified in all parts of the trade and capable of producing work to the required standards, specification or finish expected of a Test Technician. To perform defined tasks to written instructions and to be able to work to their own initiative to enable the Depot to provide a quality service to the business. Carry out functional testing and commissioning of EMU/DMU and other rolling stock types of post works to a defined and written standard in line with UK rail safety regulations. Lead fault identification and rectification using recognised fault-finding techniques. Responsibilities: Work as directed by your line manager Read schematic drawings With minimal supervision investigate rolling stock faults found within the test process Assist the engineering process where necessary Work within a high voltage environment Download and process train diagnostic data. Undertake fault finding to an advanced level Test all types of on train systems Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation Specialise in areas of technical expertise If required deputise for test team leader Keep test paperwork up to date, including test sheets and fault logs Liaise with production departments when necessary Attend off site railway depots to support our customers requirement From time to time may be asked to carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager. Education Requirements/Person Specification: Equivalent to GCSE C and above in Maths and English. Time served apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 or higher Competent and trained in electric/mechanical fault-finding techniques Detailed knowledge of railway vehicle electrical/mechanical systems and components Has the ability to fault find complex circuits and systems to an advanced level. Has a proven track record of working within a safety critical environment Computer literate and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
