Job Title: Traffic Engineer

Location: Dudley

Duration: 9 months

Rates: £200 - 250 per day (Umbrella)

Summary

To support the delivery of the Transport Capital Programme and traffic management schemes from concept, through to design, consultation, and site instruction. Application of technical knowledge, processes and administration. Working under the direction of the Traffic Engineering Lead.

Responsibilities

• Support the Traffic Engineering Lead and rest of the Traffic Engineering Team.

• To work under supervision of the Traffic Engineering Lead delivering projects, undertaking studies, investigations, assessments, and giving recommendations for potential engineering solutions.

• Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance, and Codes of Practice applicable to the performance of the service area.

• To receive requests, assessing the reason for the request together with its urgency, and to take appropriate action in accordance with procedures and service instructions.

• The provision of briefing notes / technical reports as necessary and to assist with the supervision of others undertaking routine work.

• To actively participate and take a record of meetings and any other meetings or groups as requested.

• To undertake day-to-day maintenance and updating of records, registers, inventories, plans and other information to ensure that information, databases and contacts are accurate and complete, including the investigation and resolution of queries as relevant.

• To ensure compliance with all relevant primary legislation and Codes of Practice.

• To assist with the supervision of contracts and consultant commissions.

• To assist with the monitoring of relevant costs and budgets for the Section.

• To liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders with regards to highway proposals in line with goof practice.

• To provide support to the Traffic Engineering Team at meetings with elected members, members of the public and stakeholders, to provide information and advice and answer routine technical and policy questions.

• To deal with a range of routine customer enquiries complaints and associated correspondence, including the provision of advice and carrying out minor investigations as necessary.

• To undertake any other relevant and appropriate duties and responsibilities.

• To work with partners both within the organisation and externally (including regional working)

• To be able to move and transport equipment relevant to the post.
