Job Description - University administrator

Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Location: Birmingham Central
Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week), 2-3 days on campus, remainder working from home
Salary: £12.90 per hour

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Administrative Assistant to support the Student and Academic Services team for a 12-week period. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic environment and provide essential support to ensure smooth delivery of key operational and administrative processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks
  • Organise, service, and take minutes for meetings and committees
  • Book staff travel in line with university procedures and budget approvals
  • Support onboarding of temporary workers, including paperwork, right-to-work checks, and HR liaison
  • Maintain right-to-work records in line with legal and university standards
  • Raise and monitor purchase orders, liaising with suppliers and finance teams
  • Assist with post and parcel management, including logging and distribution
  • Arrange room bookings and logistics for meetings, events, and visitors

Essential Criteria

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Confident communicator with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Understanding of office systems including purchase orders and records
