These roles offer the chance to work across the full product lifecycle in a safety‑critical, high‑hazard engineering environment , with opportunities spanning design, development, trials and manufacturing support . These are varied roles and would suit engineers with experience in product design, systems engineering, manufacturing, trials or process development , particularly within regulated industries. The role Depending on background and experience, you will support one or more of the following activities: Supporting product and systems engineering activities for new and legacy defence products Product and process design, development and evaluation across the full lifecycle Planning, conducting and reporting product trials in a safe and controlled manner Application of engineering governance, including design reviews and configuration control Use of engineering analysis and design tools (e.g. DFMEA, FTA, Pugh matrices, PFMEA, process control plans) Hands‑on development and support to manufacturing and trials activities where required Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials Supporting costed proposals for internal and external customers Cross‑functional collaboration with manufacturing, test, project and systems teams Safety is central to all activities, and you will be expected to work to the highest standards in a high‑hazard environment. What we’re looking for You don’t need to tick every box – strong experience in either design/systems or hands‑on manufacturing and trials is valuable. Essential: Proven experience supporting engineering teams or projects in a technical environment Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders Experience working within regulated or safety‑critical industries Desirable: Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related discipline Experience with product or process design tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, FTA, PCP, Pugh matrices) Trials planning, execution and reporting experience Manufacturing or process engineering experience in a high‑hazard environment Working knowledge of systems engineering and engineering governance IOSH / NEBOSH or similar safety qualification Current or previous UK Security Clearance (SC) Candidates from defence, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceuticals, chemical or other regulated manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Security & eligibility These roles are subject to UK security and export control restrictions. All applicants must be eligible to achieve BPSS clearance , with SC clearance desirable , including appropriate UK residency history. Why apply?
