Warehouse Operative

We have a temporary Warehouse Operative position available at TATA Steel's Llanwern Works, perfect for someone with strong manual handling skills who is adaptable, a good communicator, and safety-conscious.

Position: Warehouse Operative
Location: TATA Steel, Llanwern Works, Newport NP19 4QZ
Pay: £11.66/hour (basic), with a 25% shift allowance (£14.58/hour). Overtime available at 1.5x (£17.49/hour) and 2.0x (£23.32/hour)
Contract: 6 months initially
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts on a 6-week rotating schedule, averaging 37.5 hours per week. Shifts cover days, nights, and weekends, so flexibility is essential. Each 12-hour shift includes two unpaid 30-minute breaks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispatching materials according to client requests
• Handling goods on both inbound and outbound shipments
• Upholding Health and Safety standards and encouraging others to do the same
• General housekeeping duties, such as stock takes, quality checks, and reporting damages
• Operating machinery (training provided)

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience in a warehouse or production environment
• Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate
• Solid understanding of UK Health and Safety regulations
• Capable of manual handling, including lifting bulky items and standing for long periods

Desirable:

• Full driving license with access to a car
• Knowledge of the steel industry
