Workshop LV Technician / MOT Tester

• Pay Rate: £16.10 - £17.10 per hour (PAYE), depending on experience

Rotherham Council are looking for a qualified Workshop LV Technician / MOT Tester to join our RMBC Workshop Maintenance team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of our in-house maintenance operation and ensure compliance as an Approved MOT Centre. The position is based in our fully equipped facility in Hellaby, Rotherham, which services a fleet of over 200 vehicles and grounds maintenance machinery.

• Conduct up to 8 MOT/Taxi Compliance tests per day to the required DVSA Standard.
• Provide high-standard fault diagnosis, maintenance, inspection, repair, and MOT preparation for a diverse range of vehicles.
• Prepare and present vehicles for their annual MOT inspection and carry out periodic safety inspections to DVSA inspection manual standards.
• Work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, occasionally using the latest vehicle diagnostic technology.
• Input data onto the Taxi compliance database.
• Attend to broken down or accident-damaged vehicles to perform permanent or temporary repairs.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections for new fleet vehicles and manage decommissioning services at the end of their life cycle.

• City & Guilds, IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent time-served experience.
• Current MOT Testing licence (essential that qualifications are up to date).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• A valid Basic DBS check will be required for this position.
• Level 6 qualification (e.g., Bachelor Degrees, Graduate Certificates and Diplomas) or Level 5 qualification (e.g., Diplomas of HE and FE, foundation degrees, HNDs), or equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.
