Job Description - Workshop Operative

A very successful metal fabricators and woodblock manufacturers based in Aylesford is recruiting an all-round Workshop Operative to join their team.

You will be enthusiastic and ideally have practical experience of working on the tools in a workshop environment. However, the company are willing to train the right candidate how to operate the workshop machinery, including a band saw.

You will be physically fit as you will also assist in the day-day packing and general warehouse duties.

Your general duties will include:

  • Receiving goods-in and putting away into stock
  • Working on the tools to produce woodblocks and other items as needed
  • Inspect finished items to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Packing and dispatching orders
  • General housekeeping duties to include waste management
  • Loading and unloading vehicles


Skills Required:

  • Recent experience of working with cutting tools (band saw) or a keen willingness to learn
  • Strong working safely ethic
  • Team player
  • Positive, trustworthy and respectful
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic in general
  • Computer literate
  • Experience within a warehouse/workshop environment preferable

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, ½ hour unpaid lunch, initially on a temporary basis. There may be an opportunity for a permanent position after a qualifying period.
