Yard Operative

The Company:

MTrec are currently recruiting for a renowned and respected company based in the Hetton Le Hole area. MTrec are currently looking for proactive individuals who are looking for a long term position.

As a Yard Person, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organised yard environment while managing the site’s waste streams to maximise recycling and sustainability.

MTrec are currently looking for people to start within the next 7 working days, please do not apply if you are unable to start work within that period.

The Role:

• Managing site waste streams, including collation of cardboard and plastic for baling
• Transferring dry mixed recycling (DMR) into designated bins and organising food waste disposal
• Cleaning waste bins using a jet wash
• Organising site collection bins and ensuring timely placement for collection
• Keeping waste collection points clean to avoid pest issues
• Emptying LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) extractions and maintaining cleanliness in the area
• Filling the compactor with non-recyclable waste and ensuring the compactor area remains clean
• Litter picking and sweeping yard areas to prevent blocked drains
• Gritting the yard and car park during cold weather conditions
• Assisting with general site hygiene tasks as needed

The Person:

• Understanding of hygiene standards
• Comfortable with outdoor work and manual handling tasks
• Forklift truck licence (advantageous, but not essential)

The Hours:

• 07:00am - 15:00pm
• 15:00pm - 23:00pm

The Pay:

• Day Shift: £12.21 per hour
• Back Shift: £13.10 per hour
