An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Deputy Manager to join a housing support service for young people with complex needs in the Leyton area. This is a full-time, temporary role offering vital operational support and leadership over an estimated 2 to 3 month period, with an immediate start preferred.

The role requires oversight of day-to-day service delivery and management of a small team, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, and consistent support is provided to young people, including care leavers and looked after children.

Key Details:

• Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (Mon to Fri, 9AM to 5PM)
• Pay: £16.99 per hour plus £2.05 holiday pay (total: £19.04 per hour)
• Location: Leyton, East London
• Contract Type: Temporary (approx. 2 to 3 months)

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support a team of 3-4 staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery
• Oversee support planning, risk management, and engagement with young people
• Lead on responses to missing episodes and non-engagement, working with statutory partners
• Maintain positive working relationships with Children's Services and Leaving Care teams
• Manage the referral process, ensuring effective assessment and placement decisions
• Support early planning for move-on and deliver life skills development initiatives
• Monitor and maintain quality of support and housing management services
• Lead on health and safety compliance and property standards
• Manage voids and property turnaround in collaboration with the wider team
• Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and embedded in daily practice

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with young people in supported accommodation, including care leavers and those with high/complex needs (e.g., mental health, offending, gang affiliation)
• Strong staff management experience, including supervision, motivation, and performance oversight
• In-depth understanding of mental health and its impact on vulnerable young people
• Proven ability to coordinate multi-agency responses and maintain robust professional partnerships
• Excellent organisational skills and experience managing referrals, assessments, and placements
• High level of literacy, numeracy, and IT proficiency, with ability to write reports, monitor budgets, and manage service data
• Confident in working under pressure, managing competing priorities, and leading by example
• A clear commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
