Youth Justice Case Manager Manchester 19/06/2025 – 6 to 9 months initially Monday to Friday, 36 hrs/week – Office based
This post will be part of a multi-agency team providing an integrated approach to delivering services to achieve the principal aim of the youth justice system, which is to prevent offending by children and young people.
Work within the court arena, in the community and supervises young people in custodial settings, as well as having contact with victims of crime.
Supervising and managing children and young people supported through Prevention, Diversionary Interventions, Bail Support programmes and Statutory Orders.
Supporting children and young people who have been sentenced to custody, including preparation for their return to the community (e.g. working in partnership with parents’/carers/wider family and statutory and other partners.
Offering intervention and support to young people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families in accordance with assessed risks and needs.
Facilitating and attending Referral Order Panels and advising Community Panel Members.
Adopt a flexible approach to working with young people and their families in the community, in order to protect the public, prevent re-offending and secure positive outcomes for young people.
Take responsibility for young people with more complex needs or with a higher risk of offending or of serious harm.
Build relationships with all young people, including those with challenging behaviours and/or limited social skills, and to carry out appropriate tailored interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
Providing a service to the Court, including both verbal and written reports, bail information and assessment, and Referral Order panel reports.
Requirements
UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
Demonstrable experience working with children and young people in a youth justice/criminal justice
Knowledge of youth justice, child welfare, and criminal legislation
Awareness of child protection, safeguarding and risk management responsibilities and procedure
Awareness of the social and personal development of young people and how to intervene in factors that influence offending
Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
