Casting Supervisor

The Casting Supervisor will report directly into the Metal Production Manager. It has supervisory responsibility for the 5 shifts within the casting department. The key objective of this role is to safely produce high quality sheet ingot product to the customer specifications on time.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

You will be responsible for the safe working practices within the Casting department and the performance of those teams within it. This will include ensuring everyone is effectively trained to carry out tasks to a high standard. You will be a key driver in raising departmental standards from housekeeping to HSEQ to work standards.

• Ensure the department complies with site safety rules and that the company HSE objectives are implemented through to shop floor level.
• Challenge any sub-standards that may be presented.
• Lead by example in all aspects of HSE standards & leadership.
• Work with your team to develop the skills required to support the safe production of quality Aluminium.
• Support the prioritisation and implementation of improvements.
• Effective communications to stakeholders at all times.
• Management and development of the teams.
• Metal flow - Ensure a consistent and effective planning of the metal delivery between the departments through good planning and communication between the departments.
• Problem solving of issues that may arise, implement mitigating solutions and manage contingencies to minimise the impact on production.
• The development of work procedures and risk assessments and carry out audits to check compliance.
• Conduct Incident investigations to a high standard, including root cause analysis and identify & implement corrective and preventative actions in a timely manner.
• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, seek ways to be more efficient and drive change.
• Facilitation and development of daily start of shift meetings.
• Drive proactive maintenance within the departments.
• Work closely with maintenance to ensure operational requirements are communicated and completed.
• Manage contractors to ensure work procedures and standards are maintained.

Day based role

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
