Job Description - Logistics Operator

The Logistics Operator role is an excellent opportunity to join our small but busy Logistics team at the Teledyne Microwave UK - Lincoln facility. Role & Responsibilities The Logistics Operator is required to perform to a high level of accuracy, be self-motivated, organized, accountable, and able to perform under pressure and react to short notice changes in priorities. The successful candidate will need to have excellent communications skills as they will be liaising will all departments across the site, specifically Purchasing, Production Control, Production, Engineering, Accounts, Export Control and also external bodies including HMRC and freight carriers. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Receiving, processing, labelling, recording and storing incoming stock.
  • Picking orders as requested by production control.
  • Storing/Organizing inventory in a logical and accessible manner.
  • Counting and confirming inventory.
  • Checking end of shelf life dates.
  • Issuing out of materials.
  • Shipment of Customer orders.
  • Arranging collections of shipments on the carrier's portals.
  • Maintaining C88 (SAD) Declaration records for non-European shipments.
  • Maintaining departmental weekly KPI's and MOP's and reporting results to Senior Management on a monthly basis.
  • Carrying out all tasks in an accurate/timely manner in line with required timescales and deadlines.
  • Ensuring ESD requirements are always followed.
  • Ensuring work areas are kept clean, tidy and well-organized.
  • Essential Skills & Experience
    • Prior experience working in warehouse/dispatch roles.
    • Knowledge of current shipping/dispatch Incoterms requirements.
    • Working knowledge of European/Non European Export License requirements.
    • Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental issues/requirements within a stores/manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internal and external to the company.
    • Good people skills.
    • Good knowledge of MS Office.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to work well in a team but self-motivated and independent when required.
    Desirable Skills & Experience
    • Experience of working in manufacturing or a related field.
    • Experience/knowledge of SAP ERP system would be an advantage.
    • Awareness of complying with all UK, EU & US regulatory controls for importing, as well as adhering to all regulatory control in the destination country (International Trade Compliance).
    • Experience/knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
    • Experience/Knowledge of 5s principles and practices.
    • Working knowledge of Manual Handling Principles and Good Practices.
    • Knowledge of manufacturers Health and Safety Data Sheets.
    • Experience in safe handling of chemicals.
