Fixed Term for 18 months, Full Time 37 hours per week. This role is mostly daytime hours but will include some weekend days and evenings where required and will work mainly at M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.


We are looking for a Museum Events and Operations Officer to workin our private hire events team across our five museums including M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. If you enjoy delivering great events in cultural venues then read on.


We are currently focusing on increasing our income through running events at our museums. To do this we need to provide excellent customer service by helping the client enjoy their event at our museum, delivering new and exciting events for the public to enjoy as well as supporting the current programme and private hires. This includes ensuring the safe running of the event, giving the client and wider culture team any support they need to plan and deliver exciting and engaging events to the highest standards while ensuring our collection of over 2 million objects remain well looked after. We are currently looking to introduce new events around our current offer and you will be key to ensuring these new ventures succeed.


Our events team is led by Francesca Wooltorton, with four permanent event staff on a rota, and a casual team supporting as extra help as required. This role is looking to focus on the team and event management as well as helping to discover and plan new events. It will be an office based role mixed with hands on operational support and management. We work closely with our venue partner who manage all aspects of the catering on the night with you helping to prepare the venue, support contractors and other staff.In the coming months we will be incredibly busy hosting events all nights of the week along with some early mornings and daytimes so are looking for people who are willing to work to support the operational team at least a few nights across the week including weekends to ensure the events are delivered up to our high expectations.
