They are looking for a Chartered (MRICS) Quantity Surveyor with a passion for the claims and disputes side of the commercial role. In return they can provide the successful candidate with a unique and exciting role with frequent and increasing exposure to construction claims and disputes. The role would be the perfect first-step into a Quantum claims role for a recently chartered (or potentially nearly chartered) Quantity Surveyor. You would split your time between carrying out pre and post contract Quantity Surveying responsibilities, whilst gradually building up your claims and disputes experience on contentious projects. Project Details One of the real selling points to this role is the variety of interesting and complex projects that you will get exposure to. The have a strong reputation for providing expertise in planning, commercial and dispute resolution and are regularly appointed to assist leading contractors, consultancies, and client organisation on contentious projects. The role includes managing all project related cost and value reporting from initial budget estimates to the final figures across the full project lifecycle, including: Contract Administration Control, manage and report contractual obligations from procurement to final account Determine schedules, monitor programmes and understand risks Forensic analysis in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) Clear and impartial evidence for tribunals (ADR) Pre and post contract experience on large-scale, complex projects Candidate should ideally have some exposure to claims related tasks as part of their role as a Quantity Surveyor. A keen interest in construction law and dispute resolution Familiar with common forms of contracts such as NEC and/or JCT, and have demonstrable skills of administering contracts effectively Worked as a Quantity Surveyor on multiple projects throughout the whole lifecycle of the project Competently check costs, conduct valuations and analyse final account figure Must have very strong writing skills. These can be developed within this role, however candidates are required to have strong writing skills and understand the importance of accuracy within their written work. An ambitious individual looking to buy into the core values of the business and help to drive the business forward with its growth plan Some exposure to providing quantum analysis on formal disputes such as adjudication, arbitration or litigation would be advantageous, however is NOT essential at this level Candidates are required to have completed a relevant construction degree, such as a degree in Quantity Surveying The hiring company is a reputable and established consultancy offering a range of advisory services to their client, relating to planning, quantity surveying and alternative dispute resolution. They can provide candidates with frequent exposure to contentious projects which may require contract administration, claims preparation and dispute resolution techniques. This will also include providing an expert witness service for formal dispute hearings such as adjudications, mediations, arbitration, and litigations. The successful Quantity Surveyor will work alongside highly reputable experts on an appealing variety of projects and disputes.
