The Team

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly creative Customer Marketing team, that's responsible for leveraging the richness of the Mattel portfolio via innovative demand creation across the retail marketing funnel to drive purchase intent. Our mission is to drive retail sales via exciting omnichannel activations and merchandising initiatives (on and offline) through integrated communication.

As a department marketing initiatives cover all touchpoints across a diverse set of tools from BTL activities to sophisticated multi-level retail activation including ATL support. We deliver programs aligned to our brand and sales strategy, via an omnichannel approach: in-store, online, social and print. Working with all major UK retailers and channels: Toy Specialist, Showcase, Grocery & Value and E-commerce. Working in partnership with sales, brand, and consumer products, collaborating as one team to support each other to achieve our aligned goals and vision.

The Opportunity

As “ Senior Marketing Manager - Maternity Cover” for UKI & BeNoNe “Omnichannel Customer Marketing”, reporting into the country VP, you'll be responsible for retail end-to-end - the everyday trading landscape and key strategic brand & seasonal tentpoles across multiple global brands. Leveraging the richness of the Mattel portfolio via compelling, connected shopper journeys to drive purchase intent & optimal ROI.

  • Lead the Omnichannel customer marketing strategy & vision, building for accelerated growth. Implemented through clear and directional leadership qualities.
  • Responsible for nurturing a team of 4 direct reports and developing talent, with inspiring leadership style. Supporting the team to build, grow and execute outstanding 360 omnichannel shopper marketing excellence, that successfully delivers maximum ROI.
  • Problem solve and provide direction so the team can do their very best work. Increasing conversion rates at the point of purchase, drive sales towards achieving and exceeding revenue target and optimize ROI for multi-territory use.
  • Continually strive to raise the bar through innovative retail marketing that's industry leading - challenge the status quo, to ask what if and why not with entrepreneurial spirit. Ability to stay ahead and think for the future, move alongside trends, seasonal occasions, and consumer behaviors.
  • Act as the bridge between internal & external partners to craft & leverage retail opportunities, building strong relationships internally & externally: global, regional, PR, live events, brand, sales, consumer products & agencies. Collaborating as one team to support each other to achieve our aligned goals and vision.
  • Identify and deliver commercial brand opportunities at retail, tailored to audience profiles & shopper needs. Turning insight into action, to inform the everyday to help drive profitable sales. Drawing accurate conclusions from campaign data.
  • Expert in offering retail partners distinct points of difference with the goal of delivering maximum impact and value at retail aligned to business objectives and KPIs.
  • Highly organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Adaptable, flexible, and able to handle change.
  • Strong ability to manage a large & complex portfolio across owned, licensor brands and new launches.
  • Accountable for department budget. Plan/monitor spend against company performance & ROI metrics.
  • Maximize retailers phygital capabilities to drive Mattel's share of voice through Mattel specific promotional and brand campaigns through retail executional excellence.
  • Develop key retailer relationships by embedding a trusting connection & flawless retail plans

What We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 10+ years' experience within shopper marketing (trade & campaign management) via an Omnichannel lens - (on and offline) is essential.
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject such as digital marketing, e-commerce, or business.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful ‘standout' Retail Marketing execution and delivering high return.
  • Demonstrate team management experience with a strong leadership style that can inspire and motivate the team & key stakeholders.
  • Someone who's consumer centric and sees the importance in both brand and sales, with a flawless understanding of the UK retail environment.
  • A passion for all things retail, creative flare and desire to make shopper impact to drive growth opportunities across an omnichannel landscape with a winning mindset.
  • A highly creative individual who's driven by ideation, blue sky thinking and innovation when activating at retail to achieve revenue goals.
  • Exceptional influencing skills to deliver the best integrated cross category franchise plans.
  • A team player is essential, cross departmental collaboration is integral to the role & must understand the value of relationships across functions & people. Must have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders at any one time.
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills - written, verbal and presentation style. Clearly articulating marketing strategies and goals to customers to influence sales strategies through to execution.
  • Good project management skills, managing the end-to-end life cycle whilst maintaining strategic and creative excellence.
  • Confident ability to work at both levels, strategic and tactical
  • Experience of the toy, game or entertainment industry is ideal but not essential.
