Tronc) · Full-time · Kings Cross · At the cultural heart-beat of The Standard are our team who bring to life our spaces, engage with our guests and vibrate social energy, day and night across our bars, restaurants, event and guest spaces. We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle and are now looking for a Host for our ground floor restaurants and bars who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard' ethos. Our spaces Isla restaurant starts this Spring/Summer season with small and perfectly formed menu from award-winning author and chef Ixta Belfrage. Showcasing her favorite flavors and dishes - past, present, and future - Ixta's menu draws on her Brazilian and Mexican heritage with Italian influences, and pairs wonderfully with Isla's own modern European menu. Double Standard bar has become best known for its famous burgers, DJs and boozy brunches all enjoyed in the 70s-inspired bar space or in the sun-soaked terraces. The Library Lounge is our cosiest corner and a hub for our music and cultural programming. Host to a large collection of vintage books playfully curated into categories, from chaos and science to adult relationships, The Library is where guests sit back and relax with coffee or cocktails. Your role As a Host for our ground floor restaurants and bars you will become part of an exceptional team and a key element to our guests' experience. You'll be our guests' all important first and last point of contact meeting them on arrival and escorting them to their tables, on hand to deal with their queries, provide information and oversee table plans. As a host to our guests, you will add a touch of personality and theatre to their experience, making our guests feel welcome whilst they visit The Standard and our energetic and vibrant city. You will therefore need to be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a busy high volume, high energy environment and can manage multiple tasks and guest with ease. You will be passionate about service, very well organised with a strong working knowledge of restaurant and bar operations, the order of service, and reservation management skills. We expect very busy days and evenings, so prior experience working in a high-volume venue is important. Prior experience as a Host is essential for this role. You will also have an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests.
