Position Description
Position Summary
This is a full-time, 11-month position that supports the mission of advancing service, leadership and reconciliation, as informed by the University’s mission, through the work of local and global engagement. A summary of responsibilities include:
Master’s degree required in higher education, community development or a related field required.

2-3 years of experience in service learning or other applicable areas of higher education.

· Strong administrative, organizational and attention-to-detail skills
·Knowledge of best practices related to the field of service learning and community engagement
Special Working Conditions
Due to the nature of working with college students and community partners, irregular hours outside the normal business day may be required in order to fulfill the expectations of this job.

Primary Duties
PROGRAM & EVENT COORDINATION
1. Provide oversight and coordination of local outreach opportunities in the following categories: health and companionship, education and mentoring, and basic needs/poverty
2. Cultivate and manage relationships with local community partners; ensure alignment with institutional values, priorities and student learning outcomes
3. Recruit and train advisors and students for leading, preparing for and participating in short-term service trips
4. Educate and promote service opportunities to student body; contribute to the planning of Agape Center recruiting efforts for general student engagement
5. Provide training, reflection opportunities and assessment for student leaders and participants in weekly outreach with community partners
6. Serve as Agape liaison for the annual Giving Day in partnership with the Development Office
7. Coordinate the ELI cocurricular service option for students desiring to fulfill their ELI requirement through service; serve on the ELI Oversight Committee
8. Administer the service-learning grants program; manage relationships with donors
9. Coordinate with student leaders and other campus constituents to create an environment that holistically supports these families. Engage with trainings and resources that allow Messiah to follow best practices in this endeavor. STUDENT LEADER SUPERVISION
1. Recruit, train and supervise student leaders for both local outreach teams and short-term service trips; serve as advisor for the Student Outreach Leaders executive club
2. Design and implement leadership development and training structure, advise and mentor students according to the Division’s leadership development model, within the Student Leadership Institute ( SLI ) framework
3. Educate and equip students for service-learning best practices and cross-cultural competence
4. Oversee the SGA Executive Org budget for Student Outreach Leaders, supervise Agape Treasurer
5. Participate in advisor trainings ADMINISTRATIVE & TEAM COLLABORATION
1. Lead annual goal setting, budgeting, assessment, professional development and strategic planning efforts.
2. Actively participate in SSE team meetings, training and professional development
3. Develop expertise related to trends and best practices for service learning and community engagement.
4. Continually assess effectiveness of programming toward student learning outcomes; identify gaps and propose solutions
5. Contribute to story-telling of Agape student outcomes via social media and end-of-year reporting
6. Effectively steward Agape Center resources when delivering programs and events
7. Demonstrate alignment with and support for overarching department mission, programs and values.
8. Assist in delivering presentations and information session on Agape Center opportunities
9. Serve as Agape Center representative on the Cocurricular Education Council
10. Chair the Community Engagement Committee
11. Serve as Agape representative for institutional partnerships focused on service learning experiences
12. Utilize global engagement software system used by the Center
