Manufacturing Manager

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Location: Huntingdon
  • Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

Reed Engineeringin Cambridge is partnering with a fast-growing high-end manufacturing company. We are seeking a Manufacturing Manager to lead complex manufacturing projects and drive process improvement and commercial growth. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, who is experienced in production management and passionate about exploring new technologies and implementing lean manufacturing techniques.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage and oversee complex manufacturing projects from development to implementation.
  • Work closely with Production Engineering to plan manufacturing processes, estimate resources, and ensure efficient production planning.
  • Bid for new work, manage turnover and headcount in line with company strategies.
  • Forecast capacity and capability, integrating new technologies to enhance production.
  • Provide mentorship and support to less experienced engineers, including conducting appraisals and giving clear instructions.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, manage budgets, adhere to schedules, and maintain high quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct engineering reviews and continuously seek ways to improve processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a Manufacturing or Production Manager role.
  • In-depth knowledge of design, manufacturing, and production procedures, including familiarity with machines, tools, and techniques used in the manufacturing process.
  • Proficiency in 6 Sigma, 5S, and Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience using various tools and methodologies.
  • Line management experience with the ability to mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a hands-on background.
