Working Hours: Mon-Thurs (07:30 – 16:15) – Friday (07:30-13:30) – 30 Hours Per week

Job Purpose

Due to the continued growth of GA Engineering Scotland, are looking to employ a Quality Engineer at our Dundee base. The successful applicant will required to manage, drive and develop the Quality department. Drive and accelerate the Company’s quality objectives and improve both internal and external quality. Develop, implement and maintain processes for the Quality Management System (QMS).

Main Duties

• Assist the Quality and HSE Manager to maintain the Quality Management System
• Ensure the business Quality Management System is managed and maintained to compliance and customer quality requirements
• An authority on all quality-related matters
• Ensure integrity of products, materials and processes to satisfy business, customer and regulatory requirements
• Interface and communicate with all functional areas to support the goals of the business
• Interact with all employees at all levels within the business
• Drive continuous improvement through the business
• Conduct quality audits internal (Product, Process) external (Supplier)
• Support and on occasion, host accreditation and customer audits
• Facilitate and support actions received from audit non-conformances (internal and external), and customer complaints through internal NCR process.
• Management of NCRs and root cause corrective actions ensuring timely and effective closure
• Defect investigation to identify and address root cause providing corrective action and preventative solutions
• Maintain quality records, documents, and procedures through document control and control of records
• Monitor and maintain quality metrics through Process Effectiveness Assessment Reports (PEARs)
• Continued awareness of external standards and regulatory requirements
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Process mapping, Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
• Undertake training and development as required
• Manage Calibration of all Precision Measuring Equipment

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Professional /Educational Qualifications (Method of Assessment: Application)

• HNC/HND Engineering and/or relevant experience [ ◉ ]

Relevant Work / Other Experience (Method of Assessment: Application/Interview)

• 3 years working in Precision engineering and/or Quality background [ ◉ ]
• Ability to use various handheld inspection measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, shadowgraphs etc [ ◉ ]
• Understanding of modern CNC machining manufacturing processes and familiarity with process tooling and fixtures [ ◉ ]
• Working knowledge of CMM’s would be desirable [ ◉ ]
• Perform Root Cause Analysis and obtain Corrective Action closure on internal and customer quality concerns, reviewing trends, implementing improvement plans and identification of risks [ ◉ ]
• Experience with Part and Process evaluation, qualification, control and capability (APQP, PPAP, Control Plans) [ ◉ ]

Particular Skills / Abilities (Method of Assessment: Application/Interview)

• Accurate in both word processing and data inputting [ ◉ ]
• Ability to work as a member of a team [ ◉ ]
• Use of appropriate quality tools – Six-Sigma, 5Ys, 8D, 5s and Continuous Improvement [ ◉ ]
• Good experience in Quality / Manufacturing / Industrial / Supply Chain [ ◉ ]

Job Description Pack

Pay Method: You will be paid by the last working day of the month by BACS (electronic funds transfer). Holidays: 33 days leaver per annum. For part-time employees this will be based on a pro-rata basis Sick Pay: Statutory Sick Pay is payable in the event of sickness from work. Pension: The company has an Auto Enrolment Pension Scheme where all employees qualify after 3 months service if they: (A) Are above age of 21 (B)Earn enough. The company will match the employees contributions up to 3%.
