Our Water Quality and Environment team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Cryptosporidium Laboratory Scientist on a 12-month secondment. In your new role, you’ll be responsible for undertaking Cryptosporidium analysis of drinking water and associated samples from water treatment works, service reservoirs, customer taps and catchment surveys which deliver regulatory commitments to the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI). ou will need knowledge of Water Quality testing procedures and standards ensuring that all aspects of testing are carried out using the correct processes and methods. This role will be based out of our Nottingham cryptosporidium laboratory, working 37 hours over 4 days. Prioritise and plan work daily to achieve fully optimised approach, taking into account workstream volumes and sample stability. Be flexible and be able to adapt to last minute changes in priorities. Awareness of changes within the workplace environment or equipment and the potential impact on method performance, key company measures or QMS Ensure that all aspects of work are carried out using the correct procedures, processes and methods documented within the QMS to ensure compliance with ISO17025 and Regulatory Standards. Safe operation of complex laboratory equipment and instrumentation by completion of comprehensive training. Understanding and adherence to operating procedures at all times in the respect to the use of all laboratory and associated equipment Interpretation, checking and reporting of analytical data and analytical quality controls in accordance with QMS requirements, ability to identify atypical results, investigate and respond appropriately. Undertake stringent quality control checks and ensure efficient working of laboratory equipment by investigating and resolving any issues. Accountable for personal Health & Safety including conducting dynamic risk assessments and role modelling excellent practices to ensure a Health & Safety culture. Good understanding of laboratory processes which allow identification and interpretation of any atypical results or scenarios to ensure the correct action is taken. In order to be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of 6 months lab experience and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of analytical quality control. Desirable qualifications include registered status with the relevant professional body, knowledge of basic water quality and processes, experience in an ISO17025 quality We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential.
